We are pleased to proclaim Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, to share the merciful love of our heavenly Father, and to serve and witness in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Worship is a natural expression of the love one has for another. We meet to worship as an expression of our love for the Lord our God.
“We love because He first loved us“.
All our services are open to the public, and you are most welcome to join us. We meet on Sundays at 9.30 and 11.00am, and again at 7.15pm, offering worship in three styles, which seems to help most folk to feel at home. Our Chinese friends meet for the service in Cantonese (Mandarin also available) at 2.00pm.
9.30am – Traditional ‘Wesleyan’ style, often more quiet
11.00am – An ‘all-age’ style in part, with the Junior Church and Y @ C and Cheese meeting after 20 minutes or so, and a crèche facility for under 5’s (sometimes the whole service is ‘all-age’)
7.15pm – Contemporary ‘open’ Celebration (with opportunity for testimony, quiet space and prayer-ministry, and sometimes with a special emphasis, such as Holy Communion and Prayers for Healing)
If you are unable to join in for any reason, please ask for a recording on tape or CD from David Hood. Alternatively you can hear and download for free our sermons by going to the sermons page on this website or by going to the iTunes store. You can also subscribe to the Podcast via Feedburner.
There’s also plenty happening midweek…
For example, we celebrate Holy Communion every Tuesday morning at 10.00am, and all are welcome to pop-in for this quiet and brief service, and maybe join in the 11.00am Prayer Fellowship. Mid-morning refreshments are also on offer…!
Several of our newer folk are joining in as an informal Drop-In from 9.00am. Why not call by… the kettle is usually on early and just before 11am. You’ll be sure of a warm welcome.
There are other important regular midweek activities besides the Tuesday morning Communion Service and Drop-In. They all represent vital expressions of this church’s life, and offer support and opportunity in a variety of different ways. In some respects they function as church and, indeed, are church for various people of diverse ages and backgrounds. Details can be viewed in the Activities pages.
Prayer is a day by day and moment by moment discipline for all followers of Jesus. While we know from experience that prayer changes things, we also know that God hears our prayers and often answers them in ways we would not expect.
Anywhere, at any time, we know that the Lord is only a prayer away…
Is there something you need to pray about?
Are you feeling stuck in your prayers, or feeling unable to pray?
Would you like someone to pray for you? Would you like someone to meet and pray with you?
Prayer ministry is available upon request, and after the 11.00am services and 7.15pm celebrations.
Since 2007, our regular prayer has been: “Lord, we want to know your Presence with us here”.
Wonderfully – by His grace and favour – we really do!
Sunday, week by week, and especially at 7.15pm celebrations, we have been experiencing a distinct and tangible sense of the Lord’s Presence with us. You are most welcome to join in too!
Wroxham Road also has a strong tradition of pastoral care, warm fellowship and active community involvement. It is set at the heart of Sprowston.
Pastoral
For more than two centuries, members of the Methodist Church have been in the pastoral care of “Class Leaders” and “Pastoral Visitors“, so that none should be forgotten or without opportunity for spiritual counsel.
This continues to be an important aspect of our church life.
Every member of this local church is assigned to a local care group and is therefore part of a shared network of pastoral care, through personal involvement in their group, which is led by a Pastoral Visitor.
We have 25 pastoral groups and around 150 members at present. We also have a Pastoral Lay Worker appointed to provide special support to the pastoral life of the church.
Additional friendship and support is freely exercised among those belonging to our various House Groups. Such support is also expressed in a our welcome, which is warmly extended to all.
So, whether you’re new or just visiting, we are confident that, along with many others, you’ll soon feel ‘at home’. If you are moving into the area and seeking a church to join, why not seek us out?
Oganisational
We operate under the guidance of God’s Spirit through the counsel of our managing trustees, the Church Council. Members of Council are drawn from those in leadership across the whole range of church life to ensure balanced representation.
In accordance with the Charities Act 2006, we have been granted charitable status in our own right (replacing the excepted status under Statutory Instrument 2007 no 2655).
Registered Charity Number : 1144417.
Our accounts are audited and published each year. We also have a General Church meeting each year, for all members and friends to attend, to consider items of majority interest in open forum, and to appoint our Church Stewards.
The week by week running is a responsibilty shared by the Stewards with the Minister. Stewards represent the church as a whole and meet every few weeks. Other aspects of church life are handled by various groups, such as Finance Support Group (working with the Treasurer), Property Management Group and the Pastoral Committee.
Fairtrade
We are pleased to announce that we are a Fairtrade church and use Fairtrade products.
We are sure there is a place for you… but it’s up to you to find out.
